Storypowering Our Lives

The ‘Story Powering the Youth’ project creates a safe space and forum for troubled and disadvantage youths as well as challenged-new immigrants’ to share their stories and turn them into Art’, which they can use to create a better society. This project aims to develop the artistic capacity of these youths while leading them down a path of personal and cultural empowerment. The project empowers them, builds their confidence, and allows their own self-expression while educating their communities on inclusion, anti-racism, acceptance and cultural celebration. This project also helps to promote integration and multiculturalism in the minds of local youths by emphasizing the role of culture and arts in addressing some societal challenges. This project in its use of storytelling, forum theatre, dancing and laced with African music, will enable youth participants to find their voice, and share their experiences to positively impact their immediate communities.
