StoryPowering our Lives (Youth leadership 12weeks intensive training) begins September 2010. Immigrant Youth between the age of 14-25 are welcome to attend this empowering workshop. Please call 604 803 5378

Hut Tales festival. Venue is at the Guildford Mall Court area, Date is June 25 and June 27th and Time is 3pm

Surrey Children's Storytelling festival , taking place at the Bear Creek park place, on June 4, 2010 at 9:20pm

Civic Square - Burnaby. A storytelling event that showcases communual respects, with much African drumming to bring the stories live. Event is on July11am at 1pm.

Discovery day festival for the City of Burnaby, featuring storytelling in the park with Koca Dioubaute. Date is on July 18th at the Shabolt centre

Recent Events

Annual General Meeting Held on March 22, 2010. The AGM was a huge success with the community adequately represented.

'African Storybook Launch' - Kokodiko, the Dance Monster, is a children's picture book and audio CD. Click here for event details.

'Under the Radar' - African Stages is looking for 15 African Youths between the age of 13 and 19 living in the Surrey area to work with. Project is in collaboration with Point Youth Media and commences in September. This is a free 12 week intensive media arts training program which looks to foster literacy amongst African Youths through the art of Storytelling and photography.

African Stages produces Hut Tales festival, an annual event as part of the black History Month Celebration in February. (Please visit again for specifics on dates and location)

StoryPowering the Youth:
Commences on October 2009. This is a workshop that focuses on communual values of respect, honesty, pride, empathy and self esteem through the art of storytelling. It will encourage participation through the use of the unique medium of storytelling which allows for a cross section of critical dialogue and artistic expression. Contact ASABC for more info.
